POLICY ACTION TEAMS
Our Policy Action Teams work at the federal, state and local levels to provide strategies, support and advocacy opportunities for Bay Area advocates to influence governing bodies in enacting climate-solution policy and rule changes. These teams may take action on national Climate Reality campaigns such as the Our Climate Moment federal policy advocacy campaign or the 100% Committed electrification campaign, and/or choose other advocacy paths that align specifically with key opportunities for progress in the Bay Area and/or California. We meet with representatives, show up and speak at committee hearings, town council meetings, write letters or support/opposition, and train community members to effectively advocate for policy change. It’s fun, and it’s impactful!
FEDERAL POLICY ACTION
Since 2020, our Federal Policy advocacy team has aligned its activities with the Climate Reality Project Our Climate Moment campaign. This national campaign was launched in 2020 to take advantage of the unique opportunity presented by a congress and executive branch aligned on climate as a priority. And, it has been wildly successful so far, with the passage of unprecedented climate legislation in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the CHIPS Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. This is still Our Climate Moment, and this important work continues! Join us to make a difference at this moment!

STATE POLICY ACTION
At the state level, CRBA is committed to the vision that California, as the world’s 5th largest economy, can and should lead the world as a proving ground for climate solutions that support a thriving, just future for all. We work with other chapters and coalitions to press state representatives and leaders of state departments and agencies for laws and regulations that help speed us along the path to a decarbonized and just economy. Any/all with experience, or not, in state climate policy are needed in this important work!

LOCAL POLICY ACTION
CONNECT WITH YOUR LOCAL COUNTY SQUAD
Since the chapter’s inception, one of our core driving forces for change has been local policy action taken by our six County Action Squads: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin/Sonoma, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano/Napa. Policy action is central to each squad’s mission. They advocate with their local municipal and county governing bodies for climate measures that matter to their region. And these efforts are making a big difference! Building electrification, transportation, clean energy, petrochemical opposition, environmental justice and plastics reduction are examples of issues that have brought members together within their county/region to take action and make a difference together.
