Reimagining the Future: Doughnut Economics for a Truly Sustainable Economy

This engaging presentation with the leaders of the California Doughnut Economics Coalition explores the transformative potential of Doughnut Economics. Doughnut Economics is a bold framework for building an economy that works for both people and the planet, offering a pathway to achieve social well-being while staying within Earth’s ecological limits.

This presentation dives into the California Doughnut Economics Snapshot, developed by the coalition, which highlights how our state is addressing both social and environmental challenges through this innovative model. It explores the core principles of Doughnut Economics and how they can guide us toward a regenerative and equitable future.

Hosted by Pam Allio, Co-Chair of Climate Reality Bay Area, the presenters are Franziska Raedeker, an independent sustainability consultant and lecturer, and Della Duncan, Presentation Lead at CalDEC.

Passionate about halting/reversing the climate and ecosystems crisis, Franziska helps organizations worldwide reduce their footprint and develop regenerative strategies with a positive impact on people, planet, and prosperity. As a volunteer, Franziska led several public schools’ Green Teams, participated in an alumni group for global climate action, got certified as a Climate Reality Leader (in May 2021), and has been involved in CalDEC since its early days. She enjoys spreading heterodox economics at universities and in other settings.

Della Duncan is a Renegade Economist who hosts the Upstream Podcast inviting you to unlearn everything you thought you knew about economics. She is also a Right Livelihood coach, a Senior Fellow of Social and Economic Equity at the International Inequalities Institute in the London School of Economics, the Course Development Manager of Fritjof Capra’s Capra Course on the Systems View of Life, a Senior Lecturer at the California Institute of Integral Studies and Gaia Ed., and a Post-Capitalist Economics Consultant.
