Climate One: Pelosi's Seat is Open. Meet the candidates.

  • The Commonwealth Club 110 The Embarcadero San Francisco, CA, 94105 United States (map)

After almost 40 years, Nancy Pelosi’s congressional seat is up for grabs. As one of the most powerful House Speakers in U.S. history, Pelosi played a central role in advancing landmark environmental and climate laws, and bringing energy and climate policy to the forefront of the national agenda.

Right now, climate action is stalled out in Washington. But the upcoming midterms offer a chance for Congress to make critical changes.

From wildfires to flooding, climate change is already a part of life in the Bay. At the same time, housing and electricity costs – two critical climate levers – are top of mind for many voters. So how does each candidate plan to balance serious climate action with the everyday economic pressures facing Bay Area communities? Can they refocus Congress on climate solutions? And what, specifically, is their plan?

Join Climate One Founder and Co-Host Greg Dalton in a live conversation with three top candidates running to represent California’s 11th Congressional District.

The panel conversation will be preceded by a short presentation from Nathaniel Stinnett about a recent survey from the Environmental Voter Project. While Americans care deeply about climate change, there’s a disconnect when it comes to considering political actions needed to bring systemic change. What will it take to shift the narrative from the personal to the political when it comes to climate change?
